Russell Crowe walks out on BBC Radio 4
Below, BBC Radio 4 presenter Mark Lawson questioned whether the noticeable Irish delicate was deliberate in Crowe’s portrayal of Robin Hood in Ridely Scott’s new film. While a bit rude, Russell Crowe sets him straight about the accent. Lawson then makes a stupid move and tries to bate Crowe into a controversy, and Russell walks out.
Frankly, I have sympathy for Russell Crowe (except when he’s throwing cell phones): These interviewers are far too often completely clueless and unprepared to really interview and they try to stir up some stupid ass controversy.
When “celebrities” are interviewed, I have less than zero interest in listening or reading. They either put celebrities on a pedestal treating every word that comes out of their mouth as priceless pearls of wisdom or they try to bate them into saying something controversial or something they’ll regret. In either case, they’re never dealt with as simple human beings.
Russell Crowe simply does suffer these fools and his career, in the long run, is the better for it. Charlie Rose is the standard, I think, for interviews. Not everyone can be like Charlies Rose, but guys like Lawson don’t even try.
